Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both questions: you suggest that people value independence and making their own decisions, and you identify difficulties such as lacking guidance and having to manage work alone. However, the reasons for choosing self-employment are only briefly explained, and some points are unclear or not directly connected to the question. The paragraph about companies behaving disrespectfully towards employees is relevant as a possible reason to leave employment, but it does not clearly explain why self-employment is attractive. The disadvantages also need fuller development—for example, explain the financial or workload risks of having no manager or replacement. Your final position is difficult to follow because it appears to recommend both self-employment and company work. Make your view consistent and support each main idea with a clear explanation or example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has an introduction, body paragraphs and a conclusion, and connectors such as “However,” “For instance” and “Furthermore” show an attempt to organise ideas. Nevertheless, the overall progression is difficult to follow: the first body paragraph gives possible advantages, the next discusses disadvantages, and the following paragraph shifts back to problems with organisations without clearly linking this to the main question. Some linking phrases are used inaccurately, and references such as “one person” and “they” do not always make clear who is meant. The conclusion also contains conflicting recommendations. Give each paragraph one clear purpose, arrange the reasons and disadvantages in a logical order, and use linking expressions only where the relationship between ideas is clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “self-employed,” “clients,” “decisions,” “accountability” and “deadline.” This gives the response a basic range for discussing work and business. However, vocabulary is often repetitive, and inaccurate word choice or spelling sometimes makes ideas difficult to understand. Examples include “concert about his or her future life,” “poor accountability with employees,” and “sell own their product.” Several forms are also misspelled, such as “guidence,” “becomming” and “preferd.” Aim for precise, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. Using terms such as “financial security,” “flexible working hours” and “manage their own workload” would help express the relevant ideas more clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “because” or “so,” and you use some subordination to give examples. However, the range is limited in practice because many sentences have faulty structures, and errors frequently make the meaning hard to follow. For example, “people have to their rights” lacks a complete grammatical construction, while “one poeple are works in company” has problems with subject–verb agreement and verb form. Articles, plurals and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “without having boss” and the long final sentence. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add one subordinate clause at a time. Proofread for agreement, verb forms and punctuation.
