Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You identify self-employment as the topic and mention possible drawbacks, including that it “takes a lot of time,” involves “more complexity,” and may require help from others. However, the response only minimally answers both questions. The reasons for choosing self-employment are mostly asserted rather than explained: for example, calling it “self independent” does not clarify what motivates people, such as flexibility or control over their work. The disadvantages are also vague and not supported with relevant examples. The claim that it is “nothing to be disadvantages” conflicts with the drawbacks you later list. The response is 53 words below the required minimum, which further limits the development of your ideas. Explain each point clearly and support it with a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic attempt to move from reasons for self-employment to its disadvantages, and phrases such as “but” and “also” signal some connections between ideas. However, the response has no clear paragraphing, and the progression is difficult to follow. Several statements repeat or interrupt one another, such as “self employed means becoming intelligent” and “people who are intelligent they know everything,” without showing how they support the answer. The shift from saying self-employment has no disadvantages to listing problems is also confusing. Organise the response into an introduction, a paragraph explaining reasons, a paragraph on disadvantages, and a conclusion. Use linking phrases to show how each idea relates to the question.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “competition,” “dependent,” “motivation,” and “final product,” so the general subject can be recognised. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated, particularly “self employed” and “by their own.” Some word choices are unclear or unnatural, such as “self independent,” “workers problems,” and “people who are very talented they can be done with self employed.” Spelling errors, including “necvessary,” “reseaerch,” and “becomung,” also reduce clarity. Build a more precise set of terms for the topic, such as “flexible working,” “financial uncertainty,” and “manage a business,” and check spelling and collocations when editing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response includes mostly simple statements and attempts a few longer constructions, for example, “but as the passage has said about disadvantages but it does take a lot of time.” However, sentence structures are often incomplete or incorrectly formed, and these errors sometimes make the intended meaning hard to follow. Examples include “people are chose,” “people are been expertise,” and “people who are intelligent they know everything.” There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “in a organization” and the run-on opening. Practise forming complete subject–verb sentences, then combine related ideas with accurate clauses. Careful proofreading for verb forms, articles, and punctuation will make your meaning clearer.
