Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is undeniable that most of the successful men was firstly independent business man. In this regard, it is assumed that people choose own business or work than working under boss. This essay will outline not only reason and demerits but also my opinion which is in the favour of notion in forthcoming paragraphs with a logical conclusion.

To commence with, there are numerous reason why people want to be self employed. The prime one flexible schedule. To explain it, self employed people can work according to their desired time and days. For example, self employed mothers can adjust their work time and attend their child's PTM, leave them for school and even take care their child when they were sick while if they work for a company they cannot take enough leaves and can never adjust working hours. Secondly, Independent work or business enhances management, business, decision-making, money making skills and gives the oppurnity to raise their business step by step. Most of the successful businesses start from a small shop.

Nevertheless, the biggest disadvantage of self employment is heavy work load and stress. Without a team, it can be very stressful to manage the business strategies, customers, reviews by just own so it can affect the physical as well as mental health of a individual. Suprisginly, self owned business can lead to more profits or some times loss that is why financial instability will always be there. For example, Mehandi artists are mostly working for themselves not under a company so in the festival season, they get a huge profit however in normal day they hardly get a chance to earn money.

In conclusion, although there are number of reasons for be self employed such as flexible schedule, learning skills, rid from toxic environment but in my opinion disadvantages such as heavy workload and financial instability are far more higher.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses both questions: it explains the appeal of flexible working hours and developing business skills, then discusses workload, stress and uncertain income. The examples about mothers attending to family needs and mehndi artists experiencing seasonal earnings make the points relevant. Your conclusion also gives a clear overall view. This meets the task well, but the development is uneven: the skills point is asserted rather than illustrated, and the reference to escaping a “toxic environment” appears only in the conclusion, without explanation in the main discussion. The opening claim about successful men is broad and does not directly establish why people choose self-employment. Develop each reason with a clearer explanation or example, and keep the position focused on the question.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a concluding summary. Sequencing phrases such as “To commence with,” “Secondly,” and “Nevertheless” help signal the movement between points, and the examples generally follow the ideas they support. However, some linking is mechanical, and the introduction promises “my opinion” without making that position clear until the conclusion. Within paragraphs, several ideas are packed together, particularly the list of skills and the discussion of mothers’ responsibilities. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each explanation directly to its main point. More precise referencing and transitions would make the progression smoother and reduce the sense of a list.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “flexible schedule,” “decision-making,” “financial instability,” and “physical as well as mental health.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and some topic-specific language is appropriate. However, inaccurate word forms, spelling and collocations are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause: “oppurnity,” “Suprisginly,” “rid from toxic environment,” and “far more higher” are examples. Phrases such as “successful men” and “money making skills” are also imprecise for this discussion. Aim for natural combinations and check spelling carefully; for instance, use “opportunity,” “escape a toxic work environment,” and “financial skills.” This would make your vocabulary more precise and fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

There is an attempt to use both simple and complex sentences, including a comparison with “while” and a conditional idea about business income. Meaning is generally recoverable, but errors in agreement, articles, verb forms and sentence construction occur across the response. For example, “most of the successful men was” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “the prime one flexible schedule” lacks a complete grammatical structure. In “when they were sick,” the tense does not fit the general situation being described, and “by just own” is grammatically incomplete. Practise building complete sentences with accurate subjects and verbs, and check articles and singular/plural forms. Greater control of these patterns would make the complex ideas easier to follow.
