Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both questions: you suggest that self-employment offers freedom from workplace stress, greater control over decisions and the possibility of higher profits, then identify investment risk, competition and uncertain income as disadvantages. These are relevant points, but several are only briefly explained; for instance, the claim that self-employment affects a person’s wealth is not clearly developed, and the conclusion repeats the profit advantage without balancing it against the risks. The response is also 9 words below the required 250-word minimum; the 10 words copied from the task prompt are not included in the count. Develop each main reason with a clearer explanation or a specific example, and ensure the response meets the minimum length.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for reasons and disadvantages, and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the two sides of the topic. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and linking is repetitive or awkward. For example, “Although” begins a paragraph without a contrasting clause, while “For example” introduces illustrations that are not always fully connected to the preceding point. The opening sentence also runs several ideas together, making the introduction difficult to follow. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example explicitly to the point it supports. A more balanced conclusion that summarises both benefits and drawbacks would also strengthen the overall progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “self-employed,” “investment,” “competitors,” “fixed income” and “demand,” so the reader can understand the main subject and ideas. However, the range is limited, and repeated wording such as “individual,” “organization” and “self employed” makes the response less precise. Several spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “dusscus,” “employement,” “stasify” and “producting”; these can slow the reader and reduce clarity. Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “working under someone” and “good number of profit.” Build a more accurate range of expressions for autonomy, financial risk and customer demand, and check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including a conditional example beginning “if someone is working for the organisation,” and you use clauses to explain causes and consequences. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. The opening is a run-on sentence, and “it also has it own disadvantage.we will dusscus” lacks correct sentence boundaries. There are also problems with agreement and verb forms, as in “it increase the chances” and “the product which your producting should.” Review sentence boundaries, subject–verb agreement, articles and possessives. Aim for accurate, complete sentences before adding more complex structures.
