Student answer (Band 6.0)

Today, a lot of people like to work as individuals, rather than workin as employees in any firm or organisation. They prefer to be self-employed workers because of flexible routines.

To begin with, there are several reasons why people prefer to be self-employed. People can select their own confortable working hours weather they want work at night or daytime. this routine increases theie productivity. They do not follow the orders from a boss, which gives them independence. People get a fixed salary in the organisation or company but if they work hard for themself they can get higher profit. Additionally, individual working helps to improve skills set and communication skills and it also increases growth chances.

There are also drawbacks of being self-employed workers for example, stable profile or income is not guranteed. Sometimes people do not earn a good amount in a month and sometimes they get high salary. As a indvidual workers they have to manage multiple skills like marketing, finances, communications and daily tasks. The main problem for a self-employed is that they do not get paid leaves. Sometimes it is hard to be consistent as a individual workers. In company or organisation they provides benefits like health insurance, dinners, trips and a good working enviroments.

In conclusion, although being self-employed provide flexibile working hours and person freedom but it also comes with disadvantages like unstable income and heavy workload with company benefits. In my opinion, If person has long experience they can manage their work much better rather then working in a company. For junior workers they often need a professional teamwork.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both questions: flexibility, independence and the possibility of higher earnings are given as reasons, while uncertain income, multiple responsibilities and lack of paid leave are identified as disadvantages. Your conclusion also gives a relevant view about experienced and junior workers. These points are on topic, but some are asserted rather than explained. For instance, you say self-employment “increases growth chances” without clarifying what kind of growth, and the benefits offered by organisations are listed without showing how they affect the choice. Develop fewer points with a brief explanation or example—for example, how a freelancer’s income can vary between months. This would make the response more fully supported and balanced.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for reasons and disadvantages, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “To begin with,” “Additionally,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the main stages. However, some connections between ideas are mechanical or unclear. The sentence about fixed salaries and higher profits shifts quickly from one point to another, and “In company or organisation they provides benefits” does not clearly connect the benefits to the disadvantages being discussed. Use linking phrases to show relationships, such as contrast or cause, and make references explicit. Group related points—for example, income uncertainty and lack of paid leave—so each paragraph develops a more continuous line of reasoning.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “flexible routines,” “independence,” “stable income,” “multiple skills,” and “health insurance.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and you attempt some topic-specific expressions. However, inaccurate word choice, collocation and spelling reduce precision: “stable profile” does not express the intended idea, “higher salary” is not the best fit when discussing self-employment, and “working environments” is misspelled. There are also repeated or awkward phrases such as “individual workers” and “growth chances.” Aim for natural collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise terms for income, workload and employment benefits would make your points clearer and more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple sentences and some attempts at more complex structures, including “although being self-employed provide flexible working hours … but it also comes with disadvantages.” The overall meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Examples include “People can select … hours weather they want work,” where the clause needs a suitable connector and verb form, and “In company or organisation they provides,” which has problems with articles and subject–verb agreement. The conclusion also combines “although” and “but” unnecessarily. Review agreement, articles, verb forms and sentence boundaries, then proofread each sentence for a complete, correctly linked structure. More accurate control of these patterns would strengthen the response.
