Student answer (Band 6.0)
Over the past 20 years the nature of jobs has completely changed. With the advent of internet people are able to do different type of jobs. While some people still pursue conventional jobs others choose to be self employed or pursue freelancing.I personally believe that working in organisations are better compared to self employed jobs.
There are numerous reasons why many people choose to be self employed. One major reason is that people from the current generation dislike time restrictions involved in working for a company. They would like to change their working hours according to their individual preferences. Moreover, their working schedules are not flexible for taking leave for urgent purposes.Additionally, employees from the current generation are uninterested in the idea of working under someone. Moreover, they find it hectic to work amongst a large group for various projects. Many employees also find travelling to work exhausting as it depletes a major chunk of their time everyday.
There are certain disadvantages to being self employed . There is added responsibility for your work because it depends completely on your perfomance. Moreover, there is also a financial responsibilty as there is no fixed salary and the money you earn depends on your perfomance.Another drawback is that there is no structure to your job as it varies from day to day. This can lead to stress and hopelesness.
In conclusion, people are increasingly attracted to self-employment because of the independence, flexibility and potential financial rewards it offers. However, financial uncertainty and additional responsibilities can make this career path challenging.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both questions and maintain a clear view that organisational work is preferable, while explaining why people may choose self-employment. The reasons—flexible hours, dislike of supervision, and avoiding commuting—are relevant, and the disadvantages of variable income and added responsibility are also identified. However, several points are asserted rather than developed: for example, the claim that employees dislike working in large groups is not explained or illustrated, and the financial uncertainty point could show more clearly how it affects someone’s life. The conclusion summarises the disadvantages but does not return to your stated preference for organisational work. Develop fewer ideas with a specific example or consequence to make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for reasons and disadvantages, and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress logically within each paragraph, and linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Additionally,” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. This organisation is effective, though the repeated use of “Moreover” makes some connections feel mechanical. The conclusion also introduces “potential financial rewards,” which has not been developed in the main discussion, so the progression is not fully consistent. Improve cohesion by varying how you connect ideas and by making each point follow clearly from the previous one—for instance, link flexible hours directly to the greater control self-employment offers.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “time restrictions,” “individual preferences,” “financial responsibility,” and “financial uncertainty.” These expressions communicate the main ideas, and some topic-specific language helps make the response relevant. However, several choices are imprecise or unnatural, such as “depletes a major chunk of their time” and “there is no structure to your job.” Spelling errors in “perfomance,” “responsibilty,” and “hopelesness” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise collocations and consistent formal phrasing; for example, describe commuting as “taking up a significant amount of time” and explain that work may lack a predictable routine rather than saying it has no structure.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause beginning “While some people still pursue conventional jobs” and a reason clause with “because.” Most sentences are understandable, and errors rarely prevent the reader from following your meaning. Some grammatical inaccuracies remain, however. In the opening, “the advent of internet” needs an article, and “different type of jobs” should use a plural form. The sentence “working in organisations are better” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “employees … are uninterested in the idea” is awkwardly constructed. There are also punctuation and spacing issues around sentence boundaries. Review articles, agreement, and sentence punctuation, then check each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
