Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the main subject and report the visitor totals correctly: attendance rose from 74,000 to 92,000. You also note the broad improvement in satisfaction after refurbishment. However, several survey figures are misreported: before refurbishment, 10% were very dissatisfied and 15% were very satisfied, not 30% and 15% respectively as stated; after refurbishment, the figures are accurately given. The overview is limited, and the final point about non-responses is left unfinished. The response therefore only partially covers the information and some key comparisons are unclear. It is also five words below the required minimum. To strengthen the report, give a clear overview of the main shifts and check each category against the chart.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a basic overall sequence: it introduces the visuals, gives the visitor totals, compares the survey results before and after refurbishment, and begins a final point about non-responses. Paragraphing helps distinguish the introduction from the details. Linking phrases such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore,” and “on the other hand” show an attempt to connect ideas, but some are used mechanically or do not express the relationship clearly. The final sentence is incomplete, which interrupts the progression and leaves the last comparison unresolved. Organise the body into clear before-and-after comparisons, use linking words only where they accurately signal contrast or addition, and complete the final point to make the report feel finished.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing the visuals, including “total number,” “results of surveys,” “dissatisfied,” and “refurbishment.” This gives the response a minimally adequate range for the task. However, word choice and spelling errors are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning harder to follow: “individuals went” is an awkward description of visitors, “age” appears in place of “were,” and forms such as “visted,” “visiotrs,” “proption,” and “stisfied” are misspelled. “Reviews” is also less precise than “survey responses” in this context. Aim for accurate, consistent chart vocabulary and proofread spelling; for example, use “visitors,” “proportion,” and “satisfaction levels” appropriately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts some longer sentence forms, including a comparison introduced by “whereas,” but control is limited and errors occur frequently. The opening phrase “the number of individuals went” lacks a grammatical construction such as “the number of individuals who visited.” There are also problems with verb forms and agreement in “the charts depicts” and “5 percent population has not,” as well as missing spaces after full stops and inconsistent sentence punctuation. These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to interpret, particularly in the unfinished final sentence. Use a reliable mix of simple and compound sentences, check subject–verb agreement and articles, and ensure every sentence has a complete clause and appropriate punctuation.
