Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You report several key figures accurately: visitors increased from 74,000 to 92,000, satisfaction rose from 30% to 40%, and dissatisfaction fell from 40% to 15%. However, the response is only 112 words, below the required 150, and this limits how fully you can cover the charts. The overview is also incomplete: it does not clearly summarise the overall shift from mostly dissatisfied visitors before refurbishment to mostly satisfied visitors afterwards. You omit the 10% who were very dissatisfied before and 5% after, and give the after-refurbishment very satisfied figure as 34% rather than 35%. Develop a clear overview and include the main contrasting categories to address the task more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a basic, understandable sequence: it introduces the visuals, reports visitor totals, and then describes satisfaction results. Linking expressions such as “While” and “In contrast” help signal comparisons, and the information is generally easy to follow. However, the opening sentence is unclear about what the visuals show, and the body is presented as one paragraph rather than being organised into a clear introduction, overview, and detail paragraphs. Some links are also awkwardly attached, as in “While, it is clearly noticeable,” and the final sentence combines several categories without a fully balanced comparison. Use paragraphing to guide the reader and connect each comparison directly to the relevant figures.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing data, including “total number,” “accounted,” “rose,” “share,” and “decreased.” These choices show an attempt to vary language rather than simply repeat “went up” and “went down.” However, spelling errors such as “disatisfaction,” “renovet,” “reconstrcution,” and “dramtically” are noticeable, and several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, including “satisfied year before renovated” and “a sudden decreased.” The repeated use of “renovated” also limits precision when describing the museum’s refurbishment. Check spelling carefully and learn common chart-reporting collocations, such as “the proportion of visitors who were satisfied” and “fell sharply.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some sentence variety, including a contrast introduced by “In contrast,” and most of the intended comparisons can be understood. However, grammatical control is uneven, and several sentence patterns are faulty. For example, “The table and pie chart provides” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “During the year before reconstruction accounted at 74,000 which was rose at 92,000” has problems with sentence structure, prepositions, and verb forms. The fragment beginning “While” also does not form a complete sentence. Practise writing clear subject–verb sentences with accurate past-tense forms, such as “The total rose from 74,000 before refurbishment to 92,000 afterwards.”
