Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You report the main visitor total accurately, rising from 74,000 to 92,000, and include figures for all five satisfaction categories in both periods. The key shift from dissatisfaction before the work to greater satisfaction afterwards is also apparent in your comparisons. However, the response does not give a clear, separate overview of the most important patterns; instead, it moves directly into individual figures. Some descriptions are imprecise: “15% of people were displeased” appears to combine the 10% who were very dissatisfied with another category, while the chart shows 40% dissatisfied and 10% very dissatisfied before refurbishment. State the overall trends first, then report the categories accurately and distinguish “dissatisfied” from “very dissatisfied.”
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a generally understandable sequence: it introduces the charts, reports visitor numbers, and then compares satisfaction before and after refurbishment. Paragraphing helps separate the introduction from the details, and phrases such as “On the other hand” signal a change of period. However, the progression is somewhat mechanical, with repeated sentence openings such as “The number” and “The amount,” and the overview is not clearly distinguished from the supporting details. Some links are awkwardly punctuated, as in “On the other hand, after,” and the final sentence adds another figure without drawing the comparison together. Organise the body around the main contrast—visitor growth and improved satisfaction—and use linking phrases selectively.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “satisfied,” “dissatisfied,” and “increased,” so the main subject is clear. There are also attempts at more varied wording, such as “radical change” and “fully pleased.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing survey data: “tourists” is less suitable than “visitors,” “arrangement” does not clearly describe satisfaction, and “astonished number” is not an appropriate collocation. “Amount” is also repeated where “proportion” or “percentage” would be more precise. Choose neutral, consistent terms for the response categories and avoid substituting informal expressions for the chart labels.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and most of the information remains understandable. However, errors in sentence structure and verb forms are noticeable, including “The chart illustrate” and “The number … is significantly increased,” where subject–verb agreement and tense or verb form need correction. The opening sentence, “The chart illustrate the amount of tourists visit,” also has an incomplete or faulty grammatical pattern. Articles, plurals, and punctuation need more consistent control; for example, “in a astonished number” has an article error, and spaces are missing after commas in “On the other hand, after” and “40%.Moreover.” Practise accurate past-tense reporting and check each sentence for a complete, correctly formed clause.
