Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers all parts of the task, including the visitor numbers and the satisfaction survey data. You successfully identified the main trends, such as the increase in visitor numbers and the shift in satisfaction levels. However, the reporting of data is occasionally confusing. For example, the sentence 'Dissatisfied rating was 40% before renovation, after this rate took place as satisfaction in latter year same as 40%' is difficult to follow due to poor phrasing. To reach a higher band, ensure that comparisons between the two years are stated with greater clarity and precision, avoiding repetitive or ambiguous sentence structures when describing the percentages.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs focusing on specific data points. You use some cohesive devices like 'Overall', 'In initial year', and 'however'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the mention of '5 percent visitor' is slightly disjointed. Improving the use of transition words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'refurbishment', 'renovation', and 'satisfaction'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'did not response' (should be 'did not respond') and 'very dissatisfaction' (should be 'very dissatisfied'). Additionally, some phrasing is awkward, such as 'this level inclined'. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensure that word forms are used correctly in context. Expanding your range of synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' would also be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('total number of visitors were'), tense consistency, and awkward sentence construction ('after this rate took place as satisfaction'). Punctuation is generally functional, but some sentences are run-on or lack necessary articles. To achieve a higher score, focus on reducing these frequent errors and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed accurately to improve the overall readability of your report.
