Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers the main features of the data, including the increase in visitor numbers and the shift in satisfaction levels. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you correctly identify the rise in visitor numbers from 74,000 to 92,000 and note the positive shift in satisfaction, you fail to provide a clear overview or summary of the trends. The description of the pie charts is a bit repetitive, and you miss the opportunity to make more sophisticated comparisons between the two periods. To improve, ensure you group information logically and provide a clear, concise summary of the most significant changes at the beginning.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite mechanical and repetitive, with phrases like 'Now coming to' and 'Now comparing this with' used to transition between ideas. This makes the flow feel somewhat unnatural. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as when you refer to 'the statistics which is been given to us at the bottom'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks range and precision. You rely heavily on basic phrasing and repetitive structures, such as 'people visiting' and 'statistics'. There are also some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'after refurbished' instead of 'after the refurbishment'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary related to data description, such as 'experienced an increase', 'proportion', 'significant shift', or 'the majority of respondents'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'how many people visits' (subject-verb agreement), 'after refurbished' (incorrect participle usage), and 'statistics which is been given' (incorrect passive voice construction). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are noticeable and occur frequently. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement, correct tense usage, and the proper use of articles and prepositions.
