Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the ability to fully develop the response. While you have identified the main features—the increase in visitor numbers and the shift in satisfaction levels—the analysis is quite brief. You have included the key data points, but the lack of length means the overview and comparisons are underdeveloped. To improve, ensure you provide a clear introductory statement, a distinct overview of the main trends, and more detailed comparisons between the two periods. The final sentence is also unclear and does not contribute to the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organised into short, somewhat disjointed sentences. While there is a basic logical flow from the visitor numbers to the satisfaction survey results, the lack of cohesive devices makes the writing feel mechanical. Paragraphing is absent, which is a requirement for a well-structured report. To improve, use linking words such as 'furthermore', 'in contrast', or 'consequently' to connect your ideas more fluidly. Additionally, ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus, such as one for the visitor numbers and another for the survey results, to improve the overall structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is functional but basic and repetitive. You rely heavily on simple terms like 'increased', 'decreased', and 'satisfied'. There is little attempt to use a wider range of vocabulary or to vary the phrasing to describe trends. For example, instead of repeating 'increased' or 'decreased', you could use more precise terms like 'rose significantly', 'declined', or 'showed a marked improvement'. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more academic vocabulary related to data description and avoid informal phrasing like 'i think this chart'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response consists mostly of simple sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'The total visitors was' (should be 'The total number of visitors was') and '5% people gave no response' (should be '5% of people'). The final sentence is grammatically incoherent, which hinders understanding. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and attempt to use more complex sentence structures, such as using relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions (e.g., 'While the number of visitors rose, the level of satisfaction also improved significantly').
