Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features of the table and pie charts. You successfully compared the visitor numbers (74,000 to 92,000) and highlighted key trends in satisfaction levels. However, the analysis is somewhat mechanical and lacks a more sophisticated synthesis of the data. For instance, while you mention the percentages, the comparison of the 'dissatisfied' categories could be more clearly integrated. To reach a higher band, ensure that the overview provides a more comprehensive summary of the most significant trends rather than just stating that numbers increased.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moving ahead' and 'At a fleeting glance' to transition between ideas. However, some of these transitions feel slightly unnatural or repetitive. The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and avoiding short, choppy sentences. The overall progression is logical, but the connection between the table data and the survey data could be smoother to enhance the cohesion of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to describe the data, such as 'renovation', 'redecoration', and 'satisfied'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'before refurbished of museum' and 'people did not respond were similar'. These errors occasionally make the text feel repetitive or imprecise. To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and ensure that your word forms (e.g., 'refurbishment' vs 'refurbished') are used correctly in context. Expanding your range of descriptive verbs and adjectives would also help elevate the quality of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'people visited before refurbished of museum' (should be 'people who visited before the refurbishment') and 'there was difference of 5% people who where very dissatisfied' (should be 'there was a 5% difference in the number of people who were...'). These errors are noticeable and sometimes impede the flow of reading, though the meaning remains clear. To achieve a higher score, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct preposition usage, and the accurate application of relative clauses.
