Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main features of the data, including the increase in visitor numbers and the shift in satisfaction levels. However, the report lacks precision in data presentation. For instance, you mention 'dissatisfaction level... was 40 and 15%', but you do not clearly distinguish between the 'before' and 'after' periods in that specific sentence. Additionally, the overview is slightly vague; it would be better to explicitly state the trend of increased satisfaction rather than just mentioning dissatisfaction and 'no response'. To improve, ensure that every figure cited is clearly linked to the correct category and time period.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'Overall', 'At a fleeting glance', and 'Moving further' to connect ideas. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'At a fleeting glance', which is not typically used for data analysis. The referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly when comparing the two periods. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus will help you achieve a higher band score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the main points, such as 'refurbishment', 'calibrated', and 'satisfaction level'. However, there are some issues with word choice and collocation. For example, 'visited to Ashdown Museum' is grammatically incorrect (it should be 'visited Ashdown Museum'), and 'in before and after refurbishment' is awkward. You also use 'inn' (a spelling error) and 'in very dissatisfied which was decreased', where the phrasing is clunky. Expanding your range of descriptive verbs and ensuring accurate collocations will strengthen this section.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally hinder the flow. Examples include 'depicts that how many visitors visited to', 'it show a considerable increase' (subject-verb agreement), and 'in results of surveys in before and after'. There are also issues with preposition usage and article omission. While these errors do not completely prevent understanding, they are frequent enough to limit the score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage will lead to significant improvement.
