Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers the main features of the data, including the visitor numbers and the shift in satisfaction levels. However, the report is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear overview or summary of the most significant trends. While the data is presented, the comparison between the two periods could be more analytical rather than just listing figures. For instance, noting the significant shift from 'dissatisfied' to 'satisfied' categories would strengthen the response. The inclusion of a total figure (166,000) is unnecessary and does not add value to the analysis of the trends.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat repetitive and basic (e.g., 'Meanwhile', 'While', 'In conclusion'). The transition between the visitor numbers and the survey results is abrupt. To improve, you should use a wider range of linking words to connect ideas more fluidly, such as 'In contrast', 'Furthermore', or 'Consequently'. The paragraphing is logical, but the internal flow within the paragraphs could be smoother to better guide the reader through the comparison of the two years.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely heavily on basic terms like 'numbers', 'increases', and 'reduces'. There is also a minor error in the presentation of the total figure (1,66000). To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to data description, such as 'witnessed a rise', 'experienced a decline', or 'the proportion of'. The repetition of 'percentage' and 'visitors' throughout the text makes the writing feel somewhat monotonous. Expanding your range of synonyms will help improve the overall quality of your report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. For example, 'the total number of visitors are' should be 'was' (subject-verb agreement), and 'the visitor with no response is not changed' should be 'remained unchanged'. Additionally, there are issues with punctuation and article usage. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage (past tense for the reported data) will significantly improve your accuracy.
