Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the task by identifying the main features of the visitor numbers and satisfaction surveys. However, the response is slightly under the 150-word minimum, which impacts the overall score. While the key data points are mentioned, the analysis lacks depth. For instance, the comparison between the two periods is purely descriptive rather than analytical. The summary of the satisfaction survey is somewhat repetitive, and the final sentence regarding 'no response' is a good detail, but the overall development of the trends is limited. To improve, ensure you provide a more comprehensive overview and ensure the word count meets the minimum requirement to avoid a penalty.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive, particularly the reliance on 'Furthermore' and 'Moreover' to start sentences. The progression of ideas is clear, but the transitions between the visitor numbers and the survey results could be smoother. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'before renewed' and 'after the restored', which are grammatically awkward and hinder the flow of information. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, logical focus would help elevate the coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range expected at higher bands. There are several instances of incorrect word forms, such as 'before its renewed' instead of 'before its refurbishment' and 'after the restored' instead of 'after the restoration'. The use of 'satisfied' is repetitive throughout the text. To improve, you should focus on using more varied vocabulary related to data description, such as 'experienced an increase', 'the majority of respondents', or 'a significant shift in opinion'. Expanding your range of synonyms will help you express ideas more naturally and accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'The diagrams displays' (subject-verb agreement error), 'how much they satisfied' (missing auxiliary verb), and 'The 40% of the people is satisfied' (incorrect article usage and subject-verb agreement). These errors are persistent throughout the text. To improve, focus on basic subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and ensuring that verb tenses are used consistently when describing past data. Practicing sentence construction will help reduce these frequent errors and improve the overall accuracy of your writing.
