Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers the main features of the table and charts, but there are significant inaccuracies in data reporting. For instance, you state 74,000 visitors before renovation and 92,000 after, but the data provided in the prompt (which you should have interpreted from the table) shows 74,000 and 92,000 respectively; however, your description of the pie charts contains errors, such as misinterpreting the 'after' data categories. While you identify the main trends, the lack of precision in reporting the figures and the confusion in the survey data analysis prevent a higher score. Ensure you double-check the figures against the source material to avoid factual errors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'Overall', 'In contrast', and 'Moving ahead' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'At a fleeting glance'. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the internal cohesion within the paragraph discussing the pie charts is weakened by the repetitive listing of percentages without sufficient synthesis. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey the basic information. You use some relevant terms like 'refurbished', 'renovation', and 'satisfaction rate'. However, there is a lack of variety, and some word choices are slightly awkward or imprecise, such as 'the figures for after refurbishment were the remarkable'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary to describe trends and comparisons, such as 'experienced a significant increase' or 'the proportion of visitors who felt...', rather than relying on simple sentence structures.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'satisfaction rate who visit' (should be 'satisfaction rate of those who visited') and 'satisfied their visit' (should be 'satisfied with their visit'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas in the final paragraph. These errors do not impede communication, but they occur frequently enough to limit the score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage will help improve your accuracy.
