Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers the main features of the data, including the increase in visitor numbers and the shifts in satisfaction levels. However, the analysis is somewhat mechanical and lacks a cohesive synthesis of the data. While the key trends are identified, the description of the survey results is occasionally confusing, particularly when discussing the 'very satisfied' and 'dissatisfied' categories. The overview is present but could be more effectively integrated to highlight the most significant changes rather than just listing them. To reach a higher band, ensure that comparisons between the two periods are more analytical and less reliant on simply stating the numbers.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often repetitive or awkward, such as the frequent use of 'The very' or 'The fore changes'. The logical progression between sentences is sometimes interrupted by grammatical errors and unnatural phrasing, making the flow feel mechanical rather than fluid. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the transition between the table data and the chart data could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is quite limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'The very visitors' and 'The no response visitors' are unnatural and indicate a lack of precision. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'The fore changes' and 'remain unchanged befor', which suggest a limited range of vocabulary for describing trends and data. To improve, you should focus on using more precise terminology for data reporting, such as 'proportion', 'percentage point', 'fluctuation', or 'significant growth', rather than relying on basic descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are persistent issues with article usage ('the' before nouns), subject-verb agreement ('visitors... has been increased'), and sentence structure. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary commas appearing in several places (e.g., 'While, the chart illustrates,'). While there is an attempt to use complex structures, these are often faulty or contain errors that distract the reader. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like verb tense consistency would help improve the accuracy of your writing.
