Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers the main features of the data, including the increase in visitor numbers and the shift in satisfaction levels. However, the reporting of the survey data is slightly confusing. For instance, the statement 'The survey was conducted by the five categories between 100 people' is unclear and does not accurately reflect the data provided in the charts. While the main trends are identified, the analysis lacks precision in describing the specific categories of satisfaction. To improve, ensure that data points are clearly linked to the correct time periods and that the terminology used to describe the survey categories is accurate and easy to follow.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs focusing on visitor numbers and survey results. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'process' and 'the renewal process'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly in the final paragraph where the comparison between the two periods becomes difficult to track due to awkward phrasing. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall flow and coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There is a heavy reliance on basic terms like 'process' and 'increased', and some word choices are inaccurate, such as 'renovate' used as a noun instead of 'renovation' or 'refurbishment'. The phrase 'very unsatisfied' is less natural than 'very dissatisfied'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise collocations and a wider range of vocabulary related to describing trends and data, such as 'significant rise', 'marked improvement', or 'proportion of respondents'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., '18,000 visitors was increased', '40 people was dissatisfied') and incorrect preposition usage (e.g., 'on before the renewal process'). Additionally, the phrasing 'after the refurbishment the museum' is grammatically incomplete. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
