Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. While you have identified some key features, such as the increase in visitor numbers and the shift in satisfaction levels, the analysis is underdeveloped. You have not fully reported all the data provided in the charts, and the summary lacks the depth required for a Band 6 or higher. To improve, ensure you provide a comprehensive overview of all data points and extend your analysis by making more detailed comparisons between the two periods. The current length is insufficient to cover the task requirements adequately.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is divided into two short paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical, such as the repetitive use of 'numerous' and 'however'. The transition between the table data and the survey data is abrupt. To improve, use a wider range of linking words and phrases to connect your ideas more fluidly. Ensure each paragraph has a clear focus, and use referencing more effectively to avoid ambiguity. The current structure makes it difficult for the reader to follow the development of your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. You use basic terms like 'big change' and 'numerous people', which lack the precision expected in an academic task. There are also errors in word choice, such as 'reasearch enquiring visitors' (should be 'surveying visitors') and 'Very Satisfaction' (should be 'Very satisfied'). To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and collocations. For example, instead of 'the number of visitors are increased', use 'visitor numbers rose significantly'. Expanding your range of descriptive adjectives and adverbs will also help improve the quality of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains several grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. For instance, 'The number of visitors are increased' should be 'The number of visitors increased'. There are also issues with sentence structure and punctuation, such as the inconsistent use of spaces around periods. You rely mostly on simple sentence structures; to improve, you should attempt to incorporate a wider variety of complex grammatical structures, such as relative clauses or passive voice, while ensuring they are used accurately. Frequent errors in subject-verb agreement and word order need to be addressed to improve your overall accuracy.
