Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers the main features of the data, including the visitor numbers and the satisfaction survey results. However, the analysis is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear overview of the most significant trends. For instance, while you mention the rise in visitor numbers, you do not effectively synthesize the relationship between the refurbishment and the shift in satisfaction levels. Some data points are presented as a list rather than a comparative analysis, which limits the depth of the response. To improve, ensure you group information logically to highlight the most striking changes, such as the shift from 'dissatisfied' to 'very satisfied' post-refurbishment, rather than just listing percentages.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'By contrast', 'Furthermore', and 'Additionally', but these are sometimes used mechanically or to connect ideas that do not flow naturally. The transition between the table data and the pie chart data is a bit abrupt. The referencing is generally clear, but the logical progression within paragraphs could be improved by ensuring that each sentence builds upon the previous one rather than simply adding a new, isolated fact.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You use basic terms like 'count of tourist' (should be 'number of tourists') and 'people satisfaction' (should be 'visitor satisfaction'). There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'people inclined up to', which is not standard English. While you successfully use some reporting language, the range is limited, and there are minor errors in word choice that occasionally make the text sound unnatural. Expanding your range of synonyms for 'increase' and 'satisfaction' would help elevate the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'The table and pie chart illustrates' (should be 'illustrate') and 'least travelers' (should be 'the fewest travelers'). Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often contain errors, such as 'The result of survey showed that people satisfaction, so the year before refurbishment...'. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevent the response from reaching a higher band.
