Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the data, including the total visitor numbers and the shifts in satisfaction levels. However, the analysis is somewhat mechanical, listing percentages rather than synthesizing the information effectively. While the comparison between the two years is attempted, it lacks a clear overview or summary statement that highlights the most significant trend—namely, the shift from dissatisfaction to satisfaction following the renovation. The inclusion of specific data points is accurate, but the response would benefit from more analytical language to describe the changes rather than just reporting the figures sequentially.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into three paragraphs, which is appropriate for this task. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the description of the 'before' and 'after' periods. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat repetitive and occasionally awkward, such as 'In this case' and 'At the end'. The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect the data points more fluidly rather than relying on simple sentence structures.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety expected at higher bands. Phrases like 'that kind of visitors' and 'carrying category' are unnatural and imprecise. While the student uses some relevant terms like 'proportion' and 'renovation', there is a reliance on basic descriptors. To improve, the student should focus on using more sophisticated collocations and avoiding informal phrasing. Some word choices, such as 'upgradation' (which is not standard English), indicate a need for more careful vocabulary selection.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains several grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'year after it was renovate' (should be 'renovated'), 'same two period' (should be 'periods'), and 'who were stood at the same proportion' (should be 'stood at the same proportion'). While the student attempts some complex structures, these are often marred by errors in verb tense or word order. The sentence structure is generally simple, and while communication is not impeded, the lack of control over more complex grammatical forms limits the score.
