Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers all parts of the task by reporting the visitor numbers and the satisfaction survey data. You successfully identified the main trends, such as the increase in total visitor numbers and the shift toward higher satisfaction levels. However, the report includes a significant amount of repetition; the second and third paragraphs are identical, which hinders the overall quality of the response. While you attempted to calculate specific figures, ensure that your analysis focuses on the main features rather than just listing raw data. To improve, avoid repeating information and ensure that your summary highlights the most significant changes clearly and concisely.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is organised into paragraphs, but the structure is severely compromised by the repetition of an entire paragraph. This makes the flow of information illogical and confusing for the reader. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'Furthermore', the mechanical repetition of the middle section disrupts the progression of ideas. To achieve a higher band, you must ensure that each paragraph introduces new information and that your ideas follow a logical sequence without unnecessary duplication. Improving your paragraphing and ensuring that cohesive devices are used to link distinct ideas will significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'refurbishment', 'dissatisfaction rate', and 'percentage'. However, there are some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'half range of the people' and 'decent amount increase', which sound unnatural. The repetition of the same paragraph also leads to a repetitive use of vocabulary. To improve, aim for more precise academic phrasing. Instead of 'decent amount increase', use 'a significant rise'. Expanding your range of synonyms and focusing on accurate collocations will help you convey your ideas with greater precision and sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'the number of visitors are' (should be 'is'), 'reduced 25 percentage' (should be 'by 25 percentage points'), and 'the people who satisfied' (should be 'the people who were satisfied'). These errors are frequent but do not generally impede communication. To reach a higher band, you should focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions and passive voice constructions. Proofreading your work to catch these minor errors will help improve the overall accuracy of your writing.
