Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the data, including the increase in visitor numbers and the shift in satisfaction levels. However, the presentation is somewhat disjointed. While you identify the key figures (74,000 and 92,000), the description of the pie charts is cluttered. You mention specific percentages/proportions without clearly labeling them as such, which makes the data difficult to follow. To improve, ensure you group information logically—perhaps by comparing the visitor numbers first, then contrasting the satisfaction levels—rather than listing figures in a stream-of-consciousness style. The overview is also weak; it lacks a clear summary statement that synthesizes the overall trend.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is organized into two paragraphs, but the internal flow is problematic. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or misused, such as 'To commence with' and 'Considerably' used at the start of sentences where they do not logically fit. The transition between the table data and the pie chart data is abrupt. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear; for instance, 'the satisfaction part is only thirty' lacks context regarding what this figure represents. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each sentence follows logically from the previous one will significantly enhance the readability of your report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You rely on simple descriptors like 'changed significantly' and 'number of people'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'the satisfaction part' and 'very disappointed is ten'. To reach a higher band, you should use more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'category', 'fluctuation', or 'marked increase'. The repetition of basic terms limits the sophistication of the response. Expanding your range of reporting verbs and nouns will help convey the information more professionally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but accuracy is inconsistent. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'while year before it was renovated' (missing articles), 'after the Museum is refurbished' (incorrect tense consistency), and 'the number of visitors between before and after of the refurbishment' (awkward phrasing). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some run-on sentences and misused commas. While the meaning is generally clear, these frequent errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage when describing past data.
