Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task by summarizing the visitor numbers and the satisfaction survey results. You have successfully identified the main trends, such as the increase in visitor numbers and the shift toward higher satisfaction levels after the refurbishment. However, the analysis could be improved by making more direct comparisons between the two periods rather than listing the data for each period separately. For instance, noting that the 'very satisfied' category more than doubled would provide a more analytical approach. Overall, the information is accurate and the key features are clearly highlighted.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on the table and the charts respectively. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'However', and 'By contrast' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes a bit mechanical. For example, the transition between the table data and the survey data could be smoother. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different data sets, which helps the reader follow the progression of your report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'refurbishment', 'proportion', and 'witnessed a decline'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'the figure of visitors' (should be 'the number of visitors') and 'in both time' (should be 'in both periods'). While you attempt to use some less common vocabulary, the range is somewhat limited. To improve, try to incorporate more varied reporting verbs and adjectives to describe the trends, such as 'surged', 'plummeted', or 'remained stable'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'visitors who visited begore' (spelling error and redundant phrasing), '74,000 individuals has visited' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'which rise to' (tense inconsistency). Additionally, there is a punctuation error in the final paragraph where a period is placed incorrectly before 'experienced'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher band score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
