Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which negatively impacts the score. While you have identified the main features of the data, the analysis is superficial. You have listed raw percentages rather than synthesising the information to make meaningful comparisons. For instance, you mention the visitor numbers but fail to highlight the significant increase after the refurbishment. Furthermore, the data for the year after refurbishment is incorrectly stated as 92,000 instead of 920,000. To improve, ensure you provide a clear overview, accurately report figures, and focus on comparing the trends between the two periods rather than just listing the data points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear structure. While there is a brief introduction and a conclusion, the body paragraph is a dense, repetitive list of data points that lacks logical progression. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical and repetitive way, such as starting sentences with 'To commence with' and 'Moreover'. There is a lack of paragraphing to separate the visitor numbers from the satisfaction survey results, making the text difficult to follow. To improve, group related ideas into distinct paragraphs and use a wider variety of linking words to connect your sentences and ideas more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely heavily on basic phrasing such as 'results are following' and 'the information related'. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'visitores' and 'vistiors', and grammatical errors in word choice, such as 'coney the knowledge'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, try to use more precise reporting verbs and nouns, such as 'experienced an increase', 'the proportion of', or 'a significant shift in satisfaction levels', and ensure you proofread for basic spelling mistakes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are missing verbs, such as in the sentence '724000', which lacks a verb to link the subject to the figure. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. The sentence structures are predominantly simple, with little evidence of complex sentence forms. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction—ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb—and practice using complex structures like relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions to add variety to your writing.
