Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the task by reporting on the visitor numbers and satisfaction levels. However, the information is presented in a fragmented manner, and the comparison between the two periods is not fully developed. While the main features (the increase in visitor numbers and the shift in satisfaction) are mentioned, the lack of a clear overview and the repetitive structure hinder the clarity of the report. The data is presented as a list of figures rather than a cohesive summary, which limits the ability to effectively highlight the trends. To improve, ensure you group related data points and provide a clear, concise summary of the overall trends at the beginning of the response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response lacks logical progression. Ideas are presented in a disjointed way, with sentences often starting abruptly without clear links to the previous information. There is a lack of cohesive devices, making the text feel like a series of isolated statements rather than a unified report. Paragraphing is absent, which makes the text difficult to follow. To improve, use linking words such as 'furthermore', 'in contrast', or 'consequently' to connect your ideas. Additionally, structure your response into clear paragraphs: an introduction, an overview of the main trends, and specific details for each period.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'the percent of' and 'the result of' are used repeatedly, which makes the writing feel monotonous. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'dissatfisfied' and 'vistitor', and some awkward phrasing, such as 'the visitor of Ashdown Museum are not refurbishment'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe the data with precision. To improve, try to vary your language by using synonyms for 'increase' (e.g., 'rose', 'grew', 'experienced a rise') and 'satisfied' (e.g., 'content', 'pleased'). Focus on using more precise terminology for reporting data.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the visitor of Ashdown Museum are not refurbishment'), incorrect word forms (e.g., 'the visitor are increase'), and missing articles. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is little evidence of complex sentence construction. Many sentences are grammatically incomplete or awkward, such as 'The people which are very satisfied only 15%'. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and practice using complex structures like relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions to add variety to your writing.
