Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have identified the main trend regarding visitor numbers, the analysis is incomplete. You have not provided a comprehensive comparison of the survey data; for instance, you only mention the 'before' survey statistics and completely omit the 'after' survey data, which is essential for a full summary. The overview is also missing, as you have not synthesized the overall trends across both the table and the charts. To improve, ensure you cover all data points provided in the prompt and include a clear summary of the main features.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is organized into short paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is limited. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link sentences and ideas together, making the text feel somewhat disjointed. For example, the transition between the visitor numbers and the survey results is abrupt. While you use some basic sequencing, you need to employ a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'in contrast', 'consequently') to improve the flow and logical connection between your observations.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'ups and downs' and 'clear difference' are informal and lack the precision required for an Academic Task 1 report. You rely on simple descriptors such as 'increased' and 'satisfied'. To achieve a higher band, you should incorporate more precise, academic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'witnessed a significant rise', 'fluctuated', or 'a marked improvement in visitor satisfaction levels'. The range is currently too limited to demonstrate flexibility.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'satisfied from the museum's structure' (should be 'satisfied with') and 'the number of visitors was increased' (passive voice is unnecessary here; 'increased' is sufficient). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the lack of complex sentence structures limits your ability to demonstrate grammatical range. Focus on using a variety of sentence types, including subordinate clauses, to improve the complexity and accuracy of your writing.
