Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the task by summarizing the main features of the table and charts. However, the analysis is superficial and lacks a clear overview of the trends. For instance, the statement 'the pie charts had different modes' is vague and does not highlight the significant shift in visitor satisfaction. While you identified the increase in visitor numbers and the change in satisfaction levels, the comparison between the two periods is underdeveloped. To improve, focus on synthesizing the data rather than listing figures, and ensure the overview clearly captures the most significant changes, such as the dramatic improvement in visitor satisfaction post-refurbishment.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'Looking first at the table' and 'Regarding the pie chart'. Some transitions feel forced, and the logical progression between sentences is occasionally disrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'the pie charts had different modes'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to track which data point is being discussed. Improving the variety and precision of linking words will help create a smoother flow between your ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for a higher band. You rely on repetitive phrasing like 'modes' and 'visitors' throughout the text. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'when it wasn't refurbishment' instead of 'before the refurbishment' and 'there are some changed' instead of 'there were some changes'. To achieve a higher score, try to use more varied and precise terminology to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'witnessed a significant rise', or 'a marked improvement in satisfaction'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'it evident that there were some numbers of visitors' (missing 'is'), 'when it wasn't refurbishment' (incorrect tense/structure), and 'the dissatisfied was significantly decreased the visitors' (incorrect passive/active voice usage). Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and ensuring that verb tenses are used correctly to describe past events and comparisons.
