Student answer (Band 6.5)
The table illustrates the numbers of visitors to Ashdown Museum during the year before and the year after it was refurbished while the charts demonstrates the result of surveys asking visitors how satisfied they were with their visit, during the same two periods.
Overall, the museum experienced a significant growth in total attendance after the renovation. The rate of satisfaction is rapidly increased after refurbishment.
Before the refurbishment, the Ashdown Museum attracted 74,000 visitors per year. Following the upgrade, this figure rose significantly 92,000. In term of positive consumer feedback, the percentage of visitors who are 'very satisfied', is more than doubled 15% to 35%. Similarly, those who are 'satisfied' grew by 10 percentage points, rising from 30% to 40%. Consequently, after the refurbishment, three-quarters of all surveyed visitors expressed a positive feedback.
Conversely, in the term of negative consumer feedback, the percentage of visitors who are 'very dissatisfied' is dropped drastically from 40% to 15%. Likewise, who are 'dissatisfied' decline by 5% points, decrease from 10% to 5%. Meanwhile, the share of people who provided 'no response' remained completely unchanged at 5% across both time periods.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully identified the main features of the data, including the increase in visitor numbers and the shift in satisfaction levels. You provided clear comparisons between the two periods, such as the rise in 'very satisfied' visitors and the drop in 'very dissatisfied' ones. The overview is clear and highlights the key trends effectively. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are integrated more smoothly into your analysis rather than just listing them. For example, when mentioning the 92,000 figure, you could explicitly contrast it with the initial 74,000 to emphasize the growth more dynamically. Overall, you have covered all parts of the task well.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs that group information by category (visitor numbers/positive feedback vs. negative feedback). You use cohesive devices such as 'Conversely', 'Similarly', and 'Meanwhile' to guide the reader through the data. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the paragraphing could be improved by ensuring that the transition between the general overview and the specific data points is more fluid. The referencing is generally clear, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow throughout the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly, using terms like 'significant growth', 'drastically', and 'percentage points'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'In term of' (should be 'In terms of') and 'positive consumer feedback' (which is slightly unnatural in this context; 'visitor satisfaction' is better). While you attempt some less common vocabulary, there is room for more sophisticated collocations to describe trends. The vocabulary is adequate for the task, but further precision would elevate the response to a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'the charts demonstrates' (subject-verb agreement), 'rose significantly 92,000' (missing preposition 'to'), and 'Likewise, who are' (missing subject 'those'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and preposition usage will help improve your accuracy significantly.
