Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. The content is incomplete, as the text cuts off abruptly during the description of the second year. While you have attempted to identify the main features, such as the increase in visitor numbers, the analysis is underdeveloped and lacks the necessary detail to provide a comprehensive summary. To improve, ensure you complete the entire task, including a clear overview and a detailed comparison of all data points provided in the charts. The current response is too fragmented to fully address the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The response lacks a clear logical structure. The paragraphs are poorly defined, and the text ends mid-sentence, which prevents a coherent progression of ideas. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link sentences and data points effectively. For example, the transition between the introduction and the body paragraph is abrupt. To improve, use clear paragraphing (introduction, overview, and body paragraphs) and employ linking words such as 'in contrast,' 'furthermore,' or 'consequently' to guide the reader through your analysis. The lack of completion makes it difficult to assess the overall flow of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary is limited and contains several inaccuracies. Words like 'wanderers' are inappropriate for an academic report, where 'visitors' or 'attendees' would be more suitable. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'consequences' instead of 'results' or 'findings,' and 'refurnished' instead of 'refurbished.' The repetition of basic terms like 'below' and 'shows' indicates a restricted range. To improve, focus on using precise, academic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated,' 'remained stable,' or 'proportion,' and ensure you use terms that accurately reflect the context of a museum survey.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('the quantity of travelers is 74,000'), incorrect article usage, and awkward sentence construction ('very rare who ingnored the survey'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before periods and a lack of capitalization at the start of sentences. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple, error-prone sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structure, subject-verb agreement, and consistent punctuation. Proofreading your work for these fundamental errors before submitting is essential for higher band scores.
