Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the data, including the total visitor numbers and the satisfaction survey results. However, the response falls short of the 150-word minimum requirement, which negatively impacts the score. While the key trends are identified, the analysis of the satisfaction data is somewhat confusing; for instance, the reference to '40 tourists' and '30 tourists' lacks clarity regarding whether these figures represent percentages or raw numbers. To improve, ensure all data points are clearly labeled and that the response meets the minimum length requirement to allow for a more comprehensive summary of the provided information.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organized into three paragraphs, which is a logical structure for a report. There is a clear overall progression from the general overview to specific details. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive. For example, the transition 'Moreover' is used, but the connection between sentences could be smoother. Referencing is generally clear, but the lack of precision in describing the data categories makes the flow of information slightly disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring clear transitions between the table data and the pie chart data would enhance the coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision required for higher bands. Phrases like 'surged at' are used, but the context of the data is sometimes imprecise, such as referring to '40 tourists' when the chart likely indicates percentages. There are some errors in word choice, such as 'greater figure than other types,' which is vague. To reach a higher band, you should use more precise terminology for describing trends (e.g., 'proportion,' 'percentage,' 'significant increase') and avoid repetitive phrasing. Expanding your range of descriptive adjectives and adverbs would also be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('number of visitors were', 'number of tourist who were'). Additionally, there are errors in pluralization and preposition usage. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall clarity. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure that plural nouns are used correctly after quantifiers. Practicing the construction of complex sentences with accurate punctuation will also help improve your score.
