Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the task by summarizing the main features of the table and charts. However, the data reporting is often inaccurate or confusing. For example, you state that 'half of them gave no response' for the year before, but the chart shows 5% for 'no response'. Additionally, the description of the survey results is unclear, and the comparison between the two years lacks precision. While you identify the increase in visitor numbers, the analysis of the satisfaction levels is hampered by misinterpretation of the data points. To improve, ensure you accurately transcribe figures and focus on clear, comparative language rather than just listing numbers.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or misused, such as 'following that' and 'after that' used repeatedly. The transition between sentences is sometimes abrupt, and the logical flow is hindered by grammatical errors. While there is an attempt at an overview, the connection between the data points is weak. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus that logically progresses from the previous one.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'result', 'impact', and 'amount', which are sometimes used incorrectly in context (e.g., 'satisfied effect' or 'dissatisfied impact'). There are also issues with word choice, such as using 'amount' for countable visitors instead of 'number'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the data with precision. To improve, you should learn topic-specific collocations related to data description, such as 'a significant rise', 'a notable decline', or 'the proportion of visitors'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede communication. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('The number of visitor are increased'), incorrect article usage, and awkward sentence structures ('in terns of the Year before refurbishment's had'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary capitalization and misuse of periods. The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
