Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the task by summarizing the table and charts, but the analysis is inconsistent. While you identify the main trend—an increase in visitor numbers—the description of the satisfaction charts is confusing and contains factual inaccuracies. For instance, you state that the 'very satisfied' category increased from 15 to 35, but the charts show a shift from 15% to 35%. Furthermore, your description of the 'dissatisfied' and 'very dissatisfied' categories is vague. To improve, ensure you clearly distinguish between the two time periods and use the provided data points more accurately to support your summary. The overview is present but lacks the clarity needed to fully highlight the most significant trends.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is hindered by repetitive phrasing and unclear referencing. You frequently use 'the first given table' and 'the graph below' in a way that feels mechanical. Transitions between ideas are often abrupt, such as the sudden shift between discussing visitor numbers and satisfaction levels. While there is a basic structure, the progression of ideas is not always smooth. Using a wider variety of cohesive devices (e.g., 'consequently', 'in contrast', 'furthermore') would help connect your sentences and paragraphs more effectively, creating a more cohesive narrative.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for a higher band. You rely on simple descriptors like 'great decrease' or 'increases immensely'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'dissatisfied graph' instead of 'the proportion of dissatisfied visitors'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more academic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'significant rise', 'marginal difference', or 'a substantial proportion'. Additionally, ensure you use accurate terminology when referring to the data, such as 'percentages' rather than just referring to the 'graph' itself.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'The chats below defines that how much visitors satisfied' (subject-verb agreement and word order issues) and 'the number of visitors have considerably increased' (should be 'has'). There are also issues with article usage and tense consistency, such as 'after the museum has refurnished' (should be 'had been refurbished'). While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from being considered highly accurate.
