Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have identified some main features, the analysis is incomplete and lacks a clear overview. The data reporting is often inaccurate or confusing, such as stating 'very largest amount of no response at 5%'. Furthermore, the response is unfinished, ending abruptly in the conclusion. To improve, ensure you provide a clear summary of the main trends and support your points with accurate data from the charts. You must also ensure the response is complete and meets the minimum length requirement to avoid a penalty.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5
The response lacks logical progression. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the ideas within the paragraphs are disjointed and difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are either missing or used incorrectly, such as 'Not only this' and 'Looking further next chart'. The lack of a proper conclusion and the abrupt ending further disrupt the flow of information. To improve, use clear linking words to connect your ideas and ensure each paragraph has a clear focus. Organizing your report by comparing the two periods logically rather than listing data points randomly will greatly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'something 74,000' and 'increasing the satisfied visitors'. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'Ashdown Museum come to visitors' and 'decreasing dissatisfied ratio'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information with precision. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary for describing data, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained constant', 'a significant rise', or 'a marginal decrease'. Expanding your range of descriptive adjectives and adverbs will help you report the data more accurately and professionally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('Ashdown Museum come to visitors'), missing articles, and awkward sentence structures ('Here looking highest amount of dissatisfied'). The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple, error-prone sentences. There is no evidence of complex sentence structures. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, including correct use of articles, prepositions, and verb tenses. Practice writing complete, grammatically correct sentences before attempting more complex structures. Proofreading your work for basic errors like missing verbs or incorrect word order is essential.
