Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the data, including the visitor numbers and the shifts in satisfaction levels. However, the analysis is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear, cohesive overview. While you identified the increase in visitors and the positive shift in satisfaction, the reporting of specific data points is occasionally inaccurate (e.g., stating visitor numbers 'more than double' when 74,000 to 92,000 is not a doubling). To improve, ensure that your summary highlights the most significant trends rather than just listing figures, and double-check your mathematical interpretations to ensure accuracy when comparing data sets.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often repetitive or slightly unnatural, such as the frequent use of 'Whereas' or 'While' at the start of sentences where they do not function as effective connectors. The transition between the visitor numbers and the satisfaction survey results could be smoother. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through the data analysis.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the main points, such as 'refurbishment', 'significant increase', and 'satisfaction'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and minor errors, such as 'Three quatre' (spelling) and 'experience positive' (incorrect collocation). The phrasing 'following by very satisfied to satisfied continuously rising' is also unclear. To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and ensure that your spelling is accurate. Expanding your range of descriptive verbs and adverbs would also help to better illustrate the trends shown in the charts.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('the number of visitors are', 'level of very satisfied highly increase') and incorrect tense usage ('visitors doesn't response'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and ensure that your verb tenses are consistent when describing past data. Proofreading for basic grammatical slips will significantly improve the overall accuracy and readability of your writing.
