Student answer (Band 5.0)
The table illustrates the data of tourists to Ashdown Museum throughout the year before and after it was remanufactured. The chart indicates the results of a survey of visitors about how much they were satisfied by their visit during the same two periods.
Overall, there is almost a quarter difference in tourists arrived to the Ashdown Museum during the year before refurbishment and after refurbishment. Firstly, there is small difference between no response and very dissatisfied and then there is a lot of difference in satisfied and very satisfied.

Afterwards, the number of survey about visitors came before refurbishment and after with very satisfied, satisfied, dissatisfied, very satisfied, very dissatisfied and no response are 15,30,40,10 and 5 of before refurbishment respectively and 35,40,15,5 and 5 after refurbishment respectively.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the task by summarizing the main features of the table and charts. However, the data presentation is problematic. The description of the survey results is confusing and inaccurate; for instance, the list of percentages provided does not clearly map to the categories, and the student repeats 'very satisfied' twice while omitting 'dissatisfied' or mislabeling the data. The overview is also somewhat vague, failing to highlight the most significant trends, such as the shift from dissatisfaction to satisfaction post-refurbishment. To improve, ensure data is presented clearly and accurately, and focus on comparing the most prominent changes rather than listing every figure.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into three paragraphs, which is a standard structure. However, the progression of ideas is weak. The second paragraph attempts an overview but lacks logical flow, and the third paragraph is a dense, confusing list of numbers that is difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are used in a mechanical way (e.g., 'Firstly', 'Initially', 'Afterwards'), which does not effectively link the complex data points. The referencing is also unclear, making it difficult for the reader to connect the statistics to the specific categories mentioned in the charts.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and contains some inaccuracies. The term 'remanufactured' is incorrect in this context; 'refurbished' or 'renovated' would be appropriate. The phrasing 'tourists arrived to' is grammatically awkward, and the repetition of 'before refurbishment and after refurbishment' makes the text feel monotonous. While the student attempts to use specific terminology related to the survey, the lack of precision in describing the data categories hinders the overall quality. Expanding the range of reporting verbs and using more precise nouns would improve the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response relies on simple sentence structures and contains frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'the number of survey about visitors came before refurbishment', which is syntactically incorrect, and 'there is almost a quarter difference in tourists arrived', which lacks proper prepositional usage. Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent throughout the text. While the meaning is generally discernible, the high frequency of errors in basic sentence construction prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence variety and proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy is essential.
