Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the data, including the increase in visitor numbers and the shift in satisfaction levels. However, the analysis is somewhat mechanical, simply listing percentages rather than synthesizing the information effectively. The overview is extremely brief and lacks sufficient detail to fully capture the trends. While the key data points are present, the report would benefit from more sophisticated comparisons between the two periods, such as highlighting the significant reduction in dissatisfaction post-refurbishment. The response addresses the requirements but lacks the depth of analysis expected for higher bands.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow is hindered by repetitive sentence structures and a lack of varied cohesive devices. Phrases like 'The given tabular data' and 'The given chart' are used repeatedly, making the writing feel formulaic. Transitions between ideas are often abrupt or missing, relying on simple connectors like 'moreover' and 'however' without creating a smooth logical progression. The paragraphing is present but does not effectively group related ideas, leading to a disjointed reading experience. Improved use of referencing and linking words would significantly enhance the coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. The student relies heavily on basic descriptors such as 'good thing', 'highest number', and 'less interested'. There is a lack of precision in reporting data; for example, 'can not give any response' is a clunky way to describe 'no response' or 'not stated'. The range of vocabulary is sufficient to convey the basic message but does not demonstrate the flexibility or precision required for a higher band. To improve, the student should incorporate more varied reporting verbs and adjectives to describe trends and changes in data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., '40% people are disappointed'), incorrect verb forms ('after it was rebuild'), and awkward phrasing ('to asking visitors'). The sentence structures are predominantly simple or repetitive, lacking the complexity required for higher scores. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences that make the text difficult to follow. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction limits the score.
