Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have identified the main trends—such as the increase in visitor numbers and the shift in satisfaction levels—the analysis is underdeveloped. You mention that 'dissatisfied clients are upwards' and 'Very satisfied downwards' before the refurbishment, but you do not provide specific data points from the table or charts to support these claims. To improve, you must include specific figures (e.g., visitor numbers) and make clearer comparisons between the two periods. The summary is too brief to fully address all parts of the task, leading to a low score for task achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into three short paragraphs, which provides a basic structure. However, the progression of ideas is often unclear. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical or misused, such as the phrase 'Afterwards, the No response and satisfied remain same overall.' The connection between the visitor numbers and the satisfaction survey results is not clearly articulated, making it difficult for the reader to follow the logic. To improve, use a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'consequently,' 'in contrast,' 'furthermore') to connect your sentences and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is quite limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'increased,' 'massive,' and 'remain same.' There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'the whole year of refurbished' and 'as compare to before,' which are grammatically and lexically awkward. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated,' 'a significant rise,' or 'remained stable.' You also need to ensure that you are using the correct word forms (e.g., 'refurbishment' instead of 'refurbished' as a noun).
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include 'The visitors come to the Ashdown Museum increased' (incorrect verb tense/structure) and 'It also display the number of visitors' (subject-verb agreement error). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences are often faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions. You should also practice using a mix of simple and complex sentences to demonstrate a wider range of grammatical control.
