Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the task but lacks the necessary analytical depth required for a higher band. While you mention visitor numbers and satisfaction levels, the report is fragmented and fails to provide a clear overview or highlight the most significant trends. For instance, you mention that 'most' were dissatisfied before, but you do not accurately interpret the data provided in the charts. The comparison between the two periods is superficial. To improve, ensure you identify the most striking changes, such as the dramatic shift from 'dissatisfied' to 'very satisfied' post-refurbishment, and support these observations with precise data points from the charts rather than vague descriptions.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into sections, but the structure is mechanical and relies on headings, which is not appropriate for an IELTS report. The progression of ideas is somewhat disjointed, and the use of cohesive devices is limited. For example, you use 'The number or percentage' and 'The proportion or ratio' repeatedly, which creates a repetitive flow. To improve, use linking words such as 'consequently,' 'in contrast,' or 'furthermore' to connect your sentences and paragraphs more fluidly. Avoid using headings; instead, use clear topic sentences to transition between the overview, the first period, and the second period.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'number,' 'percentage,' and 'satisfied.' There are also issues with word choice and spelling, such as 'furbished' (instead of 'refurbished') and 'approxiamately.' The phrasing 'given no response' is slightly awkward in this context. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated,' 'witnessed a significant rise,' or 'the majority of respondents.' Expanding your range of synonyms will help you avoid repeating the same words throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally hinder clarity. For example, 'The number or percentage of people visited before are 74000' contains subject-verb agreement errors and awkward phrasing. Additionally, 'The ratio of dissatisfied visitors had decreased upto 15 percent' is grammatically incorrect. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before colons and commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and using articles correctly. Practising complex sentences with relative clauses or passive voice will also help improve your range.
