Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task, including the table and the pie charts. You have successfully identified the main trends, such as the shift from dissatisfaction to satisfaction after the refurbishment. However, the analysis is somewhat repetitive and lacks a clear, concise summary of the data. For instance, the second paragraph attempts to describe trends but is confusingly phrased, making it difficult to follow the comparison. To improve, ensure that your overview highlights the most significant changes clearly without listing every single data point, which is better suited for the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the flow of ideas is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Meanwhile' and 'Furthermore', the logical progression within the second paragraph is weak. The transition between the general overview and the specific data points could be smoother. To achieve a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that builds logically upon the previous one.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the main points, using terms like 'refurbishment', 'renovated', and 'satisfaction'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'very dissatisfaction' instead of 'very dissatisfied' and 'responses from very dissatisfaction'. Additionally, there is some repetition of vocabulary, which limits the sophistication of the response. To improve, try to vary your word choices and ensure that you are using the correct word forms (e.g., adjectives vs. nouns) to describe the survey data more precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'the the responses', 'there a surge', and 'very dissatisfaction and no responses recorded 5 respectively'. These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable but do not completely impede communication. To reach a higher band, you need to improve your control over basic grammar, particularly subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Proofreading your work for these small, avoidable errors would significantly improve the overall quality of your writing.
