Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task, including the visitor numbers and the satisfaction survey data. You have successfully identified the main trends, such as the increase in total visitors and the shift toward higher satisfaction levels post-refurbishment. However, some of the data interpretation is slightly confusing. For instance, stating that the number of satisfied visitors 'experienced growth by two-third' is mathematically unclear in the context of the provided percentages. To improve, ensure that your comparisons between the two years are precise and clearly linked to the specific data points provided in the charts. Overall, you have provided a clear summary of the main features.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on attendance and satisfaction respectively. You use cohesive devices like 'Overall', 'As regards', and 'After refurbishment' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the paragraphing could be more balanced. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the internal cohesion within the third paragraph is slightly hampered by the confusing phrasing regarding the percentage growth. Strengthening the logical flow between sentences would help elevate this score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'refurbishment', 'attendance', and 'satisfied'. There are some instances of slightly awkward phrasing, such as 'in a certain degree' and 'the portion of these visitors has shrinked'. The word 'shrinked' is incorrect; the past participle of 'shrink' is 'shrunk'. While you attempt to use more precise language, some word choices lack natural collocation. Expanding your range of descriptive verbs and ensuring correct verb forms will improve your lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'a half of visitors was' (should be 'half of the visitors were') and 'the number of those who were just satisfied rose' (which lacks a clear subject-verb agreement in the context of the sentence). Additionally, 'has become 2,5 times less' is an unnatural way to express a decrease. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage will be beneficial.
