Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task by reporting the total visitor numbers and comparing satisfaction levels across the two periods. The overview is present, though it is slightly cluttered with unnecessary detail. Key features are highlighted, such as the increase in visitor numbers and the shift in satisfaction ratings. However, the analysis of the pie charts is somewhat repetitive and could be more concise. To reach a higher band, ensure that the overview clearly synthesises the main trends rather than listing categories, and focus on making more direct comparisons between the two years rather than describing each chart in isolation.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the use of 'Furthermore' and 'However' to start sentences where they do not always fit the flow of the argument. Additionally, the punctuation is inconsistent, with spaces appearing before commas (e.g., 'Overall ,') and some run-on sentences. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the internal cohesion could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing is more precise to improve the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, but there are several errors in word choice and spelling that occasionally impede the reader's flow. For instance, 'satisfied levels' should be 'satisfaction levels', and 'devided' is misspelled. The phrase 'the 30% rest proportion' is unnatural. While the student attempts to use specific terminology related to the charts, the lack of precision in collocation and frequent minor errors in word formation suggest a limited range. To improve, focus on using more accurate collocations and proofreading for spelling errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the table compare'), incorrect preposition usage, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'calculated to 92,000 peoples'). Punctuation is also a significant issue, with erratic comma placement and run-on sentences that make some parts difficult to follow. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence boundary control and basic subject-verb agreement would significantly improve the clarity of the writing.
