Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task by summarizing the visitor numbers and the survey results. You successfully identified the main trends, such as the increase in total visitors and the shifts in satisfaction levels. However, the analysis of the pie chart data is slightly confusing. For instance, stating that the number of very satisfied visitors 'was 15' is unclear because the data represents percentages, not raw numbers. You should clarify that these figures refer to percentages. Additionally, the overall summary at the end is slightly inaccurate, as it misinterprets the data regarding 'dissatisfied' versus 'very dissatisfied' categories. More precise reporting of the data points would improve the clarity of your comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs for the table and charts, and a concluding summary. You use some cohesive devices like 'further', 'in contrast', and 'overall' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by mechanical phrasing, such as 'After analyzing the table charts' and 'the results of surveys of tourists who were satisfied was 30'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the two years. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to the correct data points would enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'refurbished', 'renovated', 'negligible', and 'stable'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'the numbers was escalated' (should be 'the number increased') and 'surveys which were hold' (should be 'held'). You also tend to repeat the phrase 'results of surveys' frequently. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensure that your collocations are natural. For example, instead of saying 'the numbers was escalated', use 'the figure rose' or 'there was an increase in the number of visitors'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt to use complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('the numbers was escalated', 'the visitors... was 15') and incorrect verb forms ('surveys which were hold'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but there are some issues with sentence construction that make certain parts of the analysis difficult to parse. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure that your verb tenses are consistent when describing past data. Reducing these frequent errors will help you achieve a higher score.
