Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers all parts of the task by reporting on both the visitor numbers and the satisfaction survey results. You successfully identified the main trends, such as the increase in visitor numbers and the shift toward higher satisfaction levels. However, the data reporting is slightly inconsistent; for instance, you mention '74000 visitors' for the year before, but the prompt does not provide this specific figure in the provided text, suggesting a potential misinterpretation of the visual data. Additionally, the comparison between the two periods could be more precise, particularly in the final summary, which feels a bit repetitive rather than analytical.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, moving from an overview to specific details. You use cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'In addition', 'Meanwhile', and 'Moreover' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions are slightly awkward, such as 'there was rapid increase in percentage of very satisfied around 35%'. The referencing is generally clear, but the progression of ideas in the final paragraph is somewhat redundant, as it repeats information already stated in the body paragraphs rather than synthesizing the key findings effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'refurbishment', 'proportions', and 'dissatisfied'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'amount of visitors' (should be 'number of visitors') and 'very satisfies' (should be 'very satisfied'). You also struggle with prepositional usage, such as 'increase in percentage of very satisfied around 35%'. While these errors do not impede communication, they limit your ability to convey information with the precision required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles ('the amount of visitors'), incorrect verb forms ('very satisfies'), and awkward phrasing ('remained same around 5%'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, such as the unnecessary comma after 'depicts'. While the meaning remains clear, the frequency of these errors indicates a lack of control over complex structures, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher band score.
