Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers the main features of the data, including the increase in visitor numbers and the shift in satisfaction levels. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you mention the increase from 74,000 to 92,000, the description of the survey data is slightly confusing, particularly the claim that 'no response' remained the same at 5% while also mentioning 5% for 'very dissatisfied'. The data interpretation lacks precision in comparing the two periods effectively. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are clearly linked to the correct categories and that the overview provides a more comprehensive summary of the trends observed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs detailing the data. There is a clear progression of ideas from the general visitor numbers to the specific satisfaction ratings. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'Before refurbishment', 'After the refurbishment'). Some transitions between sentences feel abrupt, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the final sentence which lacks a clear connection to the preceding data analysis. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the flow of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You use some relevant terms like 'refurbishment', 'renovation', and 'dissatisfied', but there are issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'very appreciated growth' and 'visitor's ratio'. The phrasing is often simplistic, and there is a reliance on basic descriptors. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and precise terminology for describing statistical changes, such as 'a significant rise' or 'a marked improvement' rather than 'very good growth'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'Ashdown Museum depends on just 74000 visitor' (subject-verb agreement and pluralization), 'dissatisfied ratio rapidly decline' (tense inconsistency), and 'no response remain same' (missing auxiliary verb). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence structure often feels clunky. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, consistent tense usage when describing past data, and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed with correct grammatical markers.
