Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have successfully addressed all parts of the task. You provided a clear overview of the main trends in both the table and the pie charts, and you supported these points with relevant data. The comparison between the two periods is well-integrated. To reach a higher band, ensure that you do not simply list data points; instead, focus on grouping the information more analytically. For example, you could have grouped the 'satisfied' and 'very satisfied' categories together to highlight the overall positive shift in sentiment more effectively. Overall, the response is accurate and covers the requirements well.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, an overview paragraph, and two body paragraphs focusing on the table and charts respectively. You used a variety of cohesive devices such as 'whereas', 'in contrast', and 'furthermore' to link your ideas. However, there is a minor punctuation error in the fourth paragraph: 'In contrast. 40%...' should be a comma rather than a full stop. Despite this, the progression of ideas is smooth and easy to follow throughout the text, and paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different data sets.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You have used a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information accurately. Phrases like 'increased significantly', 'proportion of people', and 'dipped to' are appropriate for a report of this nature. You also demonstrated some flexibility by using synonyms like 'redesign', 'refurbishment', and 'remodelling' to avoid repetition. While the vocabulary is functional and precise, it lacks the more sophisticated or 'less common' lexical items that would elevate the response to a higher band. Nevertheless, the word choice is natural and there are no errors that impede communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0

You demonstrated a good mix of simple and complex sentence structures. Your use of subordinate clauses (e.g., 'whereas the two pie charts illustrate...') shows good control. The grammar is generally accurate, with only a few minor slips, such as the punctuation error mentioned in the coherence section. Most of your sentences are error-free, and the tense usage is consistent with the requirements of describing past data. To improve, you could experiment with more varied sentence beginnings or more complex passive constructions to describe the data, which would demonstrate a wider range of grammatical control.
