Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the data, including the visitor numbers and the shifts in satisfaction levels. However, the report lacks precision. For instance, the initial statement mentions the number of visitors is higher after refurbishment, but the table shows a decrease (74,000 to 92,000 is not the correct interpretation of the data provided). Furthermore, the comparison of satisfaction percentages is somewhat confusingly presented, making it difficult for the reader to follow the trends accurately. To improve, ensure that data points are cited precisely and that the overall summary accurately reflects the provided figures rather than making generalisations that contradict the data.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into two paragraphs, but the logical flow is hindered by mechanical transitions and poor sentence structure. While there is an attempt to use cohesive devices like 'in comparison' and 'however', they are often used incorrectly or placed awkwardly within sentences. The paragraphing is insufficient; the overview should be clearly separated from the detailed body paragraphs to improve readability. Additionally, the lack of proper punctuation, such as spaces after commas and periods, makes the text feel disjointed and difficult to follow, which negatively impacts the overall coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary range is limited and repetitive. Words like 'visitors', 'renovation', and 'percentage' are used frequently without much variation. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'the amount of visitors' (should be 'number of visitors') and 'the number of guest that were highly dissatisfied were also fall' (grammatically incorrect and imprecise). To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of synonyms and more precise academic vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'experienced a significant decline'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'the number of guest... were also fall' and 'the dissatisfaction... decreases'. Punctuation is a significant weakness, with many missing spaces after punctuation marks, which is a basic error. The sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses, and paying closer attention to standard punctuation rules to ensure the writing is professional and error-free.
