The table below shows the numbers of visitors to Ashdown Museum during the year before and the year after it was refurbished. The charts show the result of surveys asking visitors how satisfied they were with their visit, during the same two periods.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 7.5)

The table and pie charts provide data on visitor numbers and satisfaction levels at Ashdown Museum before and after its refurbishment.

Overall, it’s evident that both the total number of visitors and overall customer satisfaction significantly increased after the museum’s renovation. Notably, the proportion of dissatisfied visitors decreased substantially during the same period.

According to the table, the total number of visitors rose from 74,000 in the year before the refurbishment to 92,000 in the year after the changes.

Regarding visitor feedback, satisfaction levels improved considerably after the redevelopment. Before the refurbishment, only 15% of visitors reported being “very satisfied,” while 30% were “satisfied.” After the renovation, the former figure more than doubled to 35%, and the proportion of satisfied visitors rose to 40%, resulting in a combined 75% positive feedback rating.

Conversely, negative experiences declined. The percentage of “dissatisfied” visitors fell from 40% to 15%, while those who were “very dissatisfied” dropped slightly from 10% to 5%. The proportion of people who gave no response remained unchanged at 5% in both years.
