Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have successfully identified the main features of the data, including the increase in visitor numbers and the shift in satisfaction levels. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with specific data from the table and charts. However, the response could be improved by making more direct comparisons between the two periods rather than listing the data for each year separately. For instance, instead of describing the 'before' and 'after' data in two distinct paragraphs, you could contrast the figures to highlight the impact of the refurbishment more effectively. Overall, you have covered all parts of the task well.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'Additionally' to link your ideas. However, some of these transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the flow could be improved by using more varied linking phrases to connect the visitor numbers with the corresponding satisfaction levels, rather than treating them as separate lists of statistics. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different aspects of the data.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'refurbished', and 'satisfied' correctly. There is some repetition of basic phrases such as 'people who visit' and 'the museum'. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'experienced an increase' or 'a significant shift in sentiment'. While your word choice is generally accurate and does not impede communication, it lacks the variety and sophistication required for a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'the number of visitors... were 74,000' (should be 'was') and 'the average of 35% of people' (which is slightly awkward phrasing). Additionally, there are minor punctuation issues, such as the missing space after the comma in 'Additionally,15%'. Despite these errors, your meaning is always clear, and the mistakes do not significantly interfere with the reader's understanding of the data.
